What to expect at Detect 2025

In just a few days, we will meet for the fourth time at Schloss Bröllin! Find out everything about the festival theme and which artists you can discover at Detect 2025.

75 musical moments

Live music has always been at the heart of the Detect Classic Festival. That's why we're dedicating this year's festival to live music. With the festival theme the meaning of live, we want to focus on live music as a cultural and collective experience.

the meaning of live

In concerts, entertainment can be combined with political expression and social issues. Examples include Kitty & the Cat, who celebrate queerness; ali dada, who weave political messages into their relaxed sound; the Kollektiv eigenklang, who work in a participatory manner; and Eqtibasat, who processes psychotic episodes in his music.

Live music celebrates the multifaceted nature of life and is a wonderful way to tell happy, sad, moving and personal stories. The junge norddeutsche philharmonie plays Béla Bartók's 'Fest für Orchester' with conductor Ustina Dubitsky, Naomie Klaus brings tragic and glamorous stories, Sofi Paez expresses hidden parts of herself with piano and voice, and Probably Nancy play punk songs that sound like love letters.

Live music often breaks with tradition or places it in new contexts. The past is translated into the future. Innovation meets imagination. Score meets improvisation. With ODD OKODDO featuring Ogoya Nengo, we encounter the Luo tradition from Kenya in a new guise, VRIL moves to the outer edges of electronic music, and the Aurora Oktett combines improvisation with structured compositions.

Acid Pauli, known for his collaborations, will play two concerts with the Detect Ensemble and Johannes Keller. His DJ set also has a few surprises in store.

detect sound

In keeping with the meaning of detect (to notice, to discover, to find the true character of something), you will of course encounter plenty of live acts whose focus lies in exploring and expanding sound.

10-01 will perform an audiovisual concert in which they create acoustic interference.

Jan Jelinek is known for approaching his synthesizers entirely on the level of sound. Particularly exciting: after his concert on Sunday, he will join Paulina Sofie Kiss (Detect Ensemble, Switchermaschine) in a panel discussion on approaches to music as part of the BR - Klassik für Klugscheisser podcast recording.

Farida Amadou is self-taught and uses her bass guitar in a new way as a vibrating sound box.

Max Cooper explores the intersections between art and science – with huge live video art in concert at the Bogen.

i live to move it

Last but not least, live music also brings us together and gets us moving. You can expect plenty of groove at concerts by O/Y and maTrigal. And, of course, at numerous DJ sets:

Wether at a concert, on the dance floor or lying under a canopy of trees: Detect offers us all a space for experiences, moments and encounters. And not just on a musical level, of course...

performances, workshops & more

As every year, there will also be a small, sophisticated workshop and performance programme in 2025. Several programme items deal with life, its elements and sound (Muru Mura, Ekheo). You will encounter hula hooping (Anja Lotta), dance (Donna-Mae Burrows, Freemotion Performance Crew), circus (ALTURA) and walking acts (Perish Bordell & VHS Leipzig, Die Flüchtigen). In the bee house at Kokon, Tom Kretschmar (lieber analog) has set up two nature-inspired installations that you can discover throughout the festival.

And if you want to learn something or work together, head to Bison Rouge's loop station workshop, discover JACEK's homemade instruments or visit Shiva's workshop on movement as an instrument of transformation.

programme for children

We are particularly pleased that the Octopus Collective from Leipzig is back again this year and will be transforming the old pigsty into a children's bay. Whether it's singing, crafts or a children's rave – together with a few artists, the collective will ensure that everyone has lots of fun.

As always, children up to and including the age of 12 get into the festival free of charge!
