What moves you? This is the question at the heart of the Kairos Kollektiv’s concert. Together with the dancers Pascal Schmidt and Andreas Schmidt, and under the musical direction of Gregor A. Mayrhofer, the evening’s programme blends dance and orchestra, music and choreography.
At the heart of the programme are two works that explore movement in different ways. Caroline Shaw’s Entr’acte (2011) draws on the form of historical dances and transforms them into a surprising, dazzling musical language. Familiar musical gestures seem to dissolve and reassemble, as if, for a moment, one were stepping through a mirror into another reality.
Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s Souvenir de Florence (1890) is shaped by memories of a stay in Italy and unfolds into music brimming with energy, passion and joie de vivre. Amidst virtuoso passages, heartfelt melodies and dance-like impulses, a work emerges that continues to touch and move audiences to this day.
The project is supported by the region of the former Principality of Lüneburg.
