Gregor A. Mayrhofer

Gregor A. Mayrhofer has made a name for himself worldwide as a conductor and composer with unconventional concert programmes. He will take over as musical director of the Hidalgo Festival in the 2024 season.

He has conducted renowned orchestras such as the Orchestre de Bordeaux, Staatskapelle Berlin, Bavarian State Orchestra, Norwegian Radio Orchestra, Britten Sinfonia, MusicAeterna (Salzburg Festival), Tyrolean Symphony Orchestra, Slovenian Philharmonic and Belgrade Philharmonic, and has worked with renowned soloists such as Patricia Kopatchinskaja, Khatia Buniatishvili and Daniil Trifonov. He has received commissions from the Bavarian State Opera, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Munich Biennale, Bavarian Radio, Hanover State Opera and the Scharoun Ensemble of the Berlin Philharmonic. In 2017, Sir Simon Rattle invited him to join the Berlin Philharmonic, where he also assisted Kirill Petrenko, François Xavier Roth, Daniel Harding, Mariss Jansons and Herbert Blomstedt, as well as the London Symphony Orchestra and the State Opera in Vienna and Berlin.

Mayrhofer studied conducting and composition at the Juilliard School in New York, as well as in Paris, Düsseldorf and Munich.
