detect lab: Residencies 2024 started

In autumn 2024, AFAR, the Orchester im Treppenhaus, the Detect Ensemble & JakoJako and Sophia Hegewald are working on their projects in rural tranquility. The detect lab residency programme focuses on creative research, artistic development and local dialogue.

How can musical frontlines be broken down? What does silence mean in music? How can improvisation become composition?

These and other questions will be explored by the musicians and a video artist who will be moving into the farm Ein Ding der Möglichkeit in Salderatzen from the end of September to the beginning of November.

music, country, flow

In autumn 2024, AFAR, the Orchester im Treppenhaus, the Detect Ensemble & JakoJako and Sophia Hegewald are working on their projects in rural tranquillity. The residency programme detect lab focuses on open-ended research and artistic development. During the residents' stay, compositions, installations or new creative concepts will be created.

At the same time, the residents invite the people of Wendland to visit the farm in Salderatzen on certain days and to immerse themselves in the creative processes together with them.

In winter 2023 and spring 2024, smaller residencies with musicians from the Detect Ensemble and the Orchester im Treppenhaus took place, supplemented by workshops and workshop concerts. Now we are pleased to be able to realise an expanded programme with four residencies in autumn 2024.

As part of the programme, we developed two public event formats with Ein Ding der Möglichkeit and WasWennLand:

kreativtage musik (creative music days)

On 9 and 10 October 2024, we invite young people from the region to make music and be creative together with the artists of the Orchester im Treppenhaus and Elena Gniss from AFAR.

workshop concert

On 1 November 2024, the Detect Ensemble and AFAR will present the first results of their residencies in a joint concert.

We recommend a donation of €20. Seats for the concert are limited.

why residencies?

Since its foundation by the junge norddeutsche philharmonie in 2015, detect has stood for a place of encounters and experiments with sound, space and people.

With the detect lab residency programme, we offer artists the opportunity to engage intensively with their materials. The projects developed during the residency period are presented on site in Wendland and at national detect events, in particular the Detect Classic Festival, and digitally.

We will keep you updated!

The detect lab is a project of Detect Sounds gUG and Ein Ding der Möglichkeit eG. Kreativtage Musik is part of the WasWennLand project of the Aller.Land funding programme.
