Vera Schnider is a harpist with a broad repertoire: during her training on the modern harp (pedagogy and soloist master's degree in Lucerne and Detmold), she specialised in the interpretation of contemporary music. At the same time, she pursued her enthusiasm for historically informed performance practice from the outset. After completing her modern studies, this led her to the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis. There she earned a master's degree with distinction in the interpretation of music from the Middle Ages to the Romantic period.
In her professional life, Vera Schnider combines her broad interest in informed performance practice in the field between the Middle Ages and the present day. To this end, she maintains an internationally networked concert life and collaborations with musicians of various styles. She regularly performs at early music festivals in York, Innsbruck and Utrecht, has held residencies at Stanford University and the Berlin Academy of Arts, and is active with ensembles such as Proton, la Cetra Barockorchester, les passions de l'âme, voces suaves, the Zurich Chamber Orchestra and the Collegium Novum Zurich.
In addition to her concert activities, Vera teaches at the music school of the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, serves as an expert for cultural promotion in Basel and is one of the curators of the Bern Music Festival.
