“Oscillations / Fractures” is the new multi-percussion solo programme by composer and performer Maximilian Wolfgang Schwarz. Each piece is an exploration of rhythm, sound and structure. The compositions, which are as dynamic as they are introspective, invite a dialogue between acoustic and electronic elements. Schwarz draws on a wide spectrum of influences – from contemporary classical music and elements of global musical cultures to experimental electronic music.
The repertoire of the multi-award-winning multi-percussionist comprises not only works of contemporary classical music but, above all, his own compositions. Schwarz cultivates a hybrid style combining classical approaches from various eras, serial concepts and electronic production.
As a drummer, he blends driving grooves, world music and complex polyrhythms with live electronics – a style he also brings to the post-rock/electronica band CozmicRip and the avant-garde trio maTrigal. He is currently completing the postgraduate programme “Excellence in Performance” under Prof. Alexej Gerassimez at the HMT Munich. He has also been active as a teacher since 2025: he has given rhythm workshops at the Musiktage Seefeld and a masterclass at the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, where he worked on his compositions with students and staged performances of them. Concert tours have recently taken him across Europe and to China.
