Since its formation in 2014, the Catalan saxophone quartet Kebyart has been pushing musical boundaries and has secured a firm place on the classical music scene.
The name is inspired by the Balinese ‘Gamelan Gong Kebyar’ – an ensemble which, despite comprising many musicians, is regarded as a single sonic entity and demands the highest level of virtuosity and extreme coordination.
Kebyart’s artistic signature is reflected in a creative vision of the repertoire based on three main pillars: original literature, their own arrangements of a wide range of styles, and a strong commitment to contemporary works. The four Catalans have also collaborated with composers such as Péter Eötvös and Heinz Holliger.
A quartet that is not only perfectly in sync and at the peak of their interpretative powers, but also musicians who, beyond technical perfection, are capable of musical communication.
