With Kai Schumacher, nothing meets nothing, because everything is already there. Classical music is there (he gained his concert exam at the Folkwang University of the Arts), punk is there, pop and minimal art, dancefloor and avant-garde.
For his album debut in 2009, Kai Schumacher ventured into a milestone of modern piano literature: "The people united will never be defeated" by F. Rzewski. This was followed by the albums "Transcriptions", "Insomnia" and "Beauty in simplicity". On the album "Rausch", the focus was for the first time on his own works, for which Kai Schumacher prepared his instrument in analogue form. His current album "Tranceformer" continues this game on a different level. Patterns circle around each other, shift against each other, fall into each other - the music remains in permanent transformation and develops its temporary form in the listener's ears.
Together with singer-songwriter Gisbert zu Knyphausen, Kai Schumacher released the album "Lass irre Hunde heulen" in 2021, on which the two artists reinterpret selected songs by Franz Schubert with a chamber ensemble. He is currently on stage with cellist Benedikt Kloeckner.
