The Junges Kammerorchester Baselland (Baselland Youth Chamber Orchestra) was founded in 2016 and brings together around 25 dedicated young musicians from the canton of Baselland. The orchestra stages two concert projects a year in the Basel region, focusing on an innovative musical concept: it deliberately plays without a conductor in order to promote chamber music ensemble playing and personal responsibility among the performers.
The chamber orchestra combines musical masterpieces with fresh ideas, performing both major orchestral works and innovative and rarely heard pieces.
Since its foundation, the Junge Kammerorchester Baselland has realised numerous exciting collaborations. It has performed together with the choir of the Muttenz high school in Madrid and at the Stadtcasino Basel. Other successful projects have been realised in collaboration with the vocal ensemble pourChoeur, the Coro de Jóvenes de Madrid, the Konzertchor Oberbaselbiet and the musical personalities Christoph Kaufmann, Michael Arbenz and Felix Gygli.
