Vincent Pongracz (b. 1985, Vienna) is an Austrian clarinetist, saxophonist, composer, and arranger.
A graduate of the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (MDW), he led the stage band at Vienna’s Porgy & Bess in 2012–13, where he founded the Synesthetic Octet. Their debut album Rastlos featured eight original compositions and was praised as a remarkably mature debut. Subsequent releases include Rastlos Remixed and the EP In the Meanwhile Shoot Me a Movie.
In 2017 Pongracz founded Synesthetic 4, performing at major festivals in Europe and around the world. Their debut album Pickedem received the German Record Critics Award and in 2024 Synesthetic4 was awarded with the Austrian Jazz Prize.
With Ligeia, Pongracz presents a minimalist, acoustic solo program characterized by high-pitched soundscapes in deep resonant spaces, alternating with multi-layered rhythmic textures.
