Kombé & Mukuna represent a new generation of electronic music artists from Basel who approach club culture as both cultural exchange and rhythmic exploration. Since founding their label Somatic Rituals in 2017, they’ve been shaping the Swiss underground scene with a sound deeply rooted in African rhythmic traditions, yet equally inspired by contemporary club music from Europe, the UK, and beyond.
Both artists draw from their own cultural backgrounds, bringing distinct musical identities into their collaborations: while Mukuna channels his roots in Senegalese drumming, making polyrhythmic structures the core of his productions, Kombé fuses Somali-Kenyan rhythms with a modern, richly textured sound design that’s as danceable as it is profound.
Their DJ sets are more than just dancefloor experiences – they are musical narratives: surprising, layered, and driven by a global awareness of sound, identity, and movement.
Through their releases, they continue to explore what club music can be – constantly pushing the boundaries of what’s possible at the intersection of organic rhythm and machine precision.
