What started out as obsessive digging and playlist creation at a young age became a deeper exploration of sound through downtempo, breakbeat and hip hop at Leipzig’s So&So in 2018. When the club closed just a year later, pokka became an ardent defender of Leipzig’s underground – a scene that remains a home for many and is constantly fighting for its space.
Since her beginnings she hasn't been confined to one genre, but found her home in house and techno music that is emotional, endlessly groovy and full of breakbeat surprises. Next to the dance floor, pokka is still a selector, regularly recording podcasts and radio shows with open genre concepts.
pokka has played sets at festivals like Fusion, Garbicz and Mystic Creatures, clubs such as Distillery, IfZ (Institut für Zukunft), Mensch Meier, or elipamanoke, while staying true to the underground scene that shaped her.
As well as working as a DJ, pokka organises, books and promotes events. She is a co-founder of the fjeden collective and the ‘bananas are berries’ event series, one of the organisers of the Detect Classic Festival, and a member of the fem*vak network.
