Felix Jedeck is a cellist, composer and live electronics performer from Hamburg. He has been playing the cello for 23 years. His musical background was initially shaped by classical cello repertoire, national prizes at Jugend musiziert, orchestral work as principal cellist with the Schleswig-Holstein State Youth Orchestra and the German National Youth Orchestra, as well as chamber music.
Early on, he developed the urge to expand the boundaries of his instrument and to understand classical music, jazz, improvisation and electronics not as opposites, but as points of friction.
After interdisciplinary projects during his music studies, collaborations with the junge norddeutsche philharmonie and his debut album Äon (2022), his new focus now leads him into a live format of his own: POLY ON CELLO.
The programme was developed over several years in his home studio – the living room as a place for practice, experimentation and spontaneous ideas. The pieces are original compositions that Felix created for concerts and festivals in Hamburg.
In Ableton, he programs individual automations for each piece. Parts of his cello playing are recorded live, looped, transformed and reassembled. This creates polyphonic layers of sound, polyrhythmic grooves and electronic spaces that unfold from the acoustic cello.
At the centre is the tension between repetition and improvisation, stability and change. POLY ON CELLO is a solo programme that does not accompany the cello, but multiplies it: physical, electronic, intimate and willing to take risks.
