David Fogarty

David Fogarty is a pivotal figure in the Berlin underground electronic music landscape, celebrated not just for his technical prowess behind the decks but for his deep archival work within the industry. He is best known as the founder and curator of Transmigration, a reissue label dedicated to unearthing and remastering obscure gems from the realms of trance, techno, and downtempo. Through Transmigration, Fogarty has been instrumental in reviving the sounds of the 90s and early 2000s, bringing forgotten classics to a new generation of listeners.

Beyond his label work, Fogarty is a key operator at Sound Metaphors, one of Berlin’s most respected record stores. As manager, he plays a crucial role in the day-to-day operations of a hub that supplies vinyl to DJs across the globe. His position there places him at the intersection of music discovery and supply, giving him a unique vantage point on the evolution of club culture.

As a DJ, Fogarty is often described as a surgical selector. His sets are praised for their narrative arc and precision. Rather than sticking to a single genre, he is known for traversing decades of music history, weaving together a tapestry of deep, psychedelic, and hypnotic sounds. Whether playing an extended closing set or a peak-time slot, his style is characterised by a sophisticated understanding of mood and atmosphere, earning him a reputation as a DJ's DJ and a true gentleman of the scene.
