between ideas

This July, we will be immersing ourselves in the sounds of Between Mountains for the first time: we will be enchanted by ensembles, building castles in the air with live music and dancing into the evening like light and fog through electronic sounds. We will explore classical and ambient, electronic and contemporary, avant-garde, beats, rhythm, spatial acoustics and blur the boundaries between open-air concert, rave and philharmonic orchestra. One day and one night full of curiosity, inspiration and escapism at Holdenweid in Hölstein.

The Between Mountains is a place where music connects people – regardless of origin, gender or religion. Everyone – regardless of age – is welcome at the Between Mountains.

who is behind it?

The idea for the Between Mountains was born out of the vision of a music festival that breaks down the social and intellectual barriers of classical music and invites the audience on an immersive journey of discovery. Conductor Baldur Brönnimann and cultural manager Felix Heri began looking for a suitable format and soon the Detect Classic Festival came into focus.

Together with two members of the Detect Classic Festival core team, they founded an association in Basel with the aim of adapting the festival concept for Switzerland. In 2025, a first event format is launched in Hölstein under the name Between Mountains.

The event takes place at the Holdenweid, where there is close cooperation with the Impulszentrum Holdenweid, which is based there. In addition to its role as host, the Frequenzwechsel association will also actively participate in the event, for example by providing our backstage catering. Thank you very much!
